Burning Eucalyptus Trees
Burning Eucalyptus trees
Well branches, but all the same to me
My hands are heavy,
A can in my left
Heart in my right.
Its nearly summer,
I can tell by the sudden lavender sky.
I’m used to isolation,
Don’t get me wrong
It’s just, never been government enforced before.
I’ve lost a couple of them now,
A fire that burned passionately
But burned out too quickly.
I hope I can see the outline of their figure again,
in the smoke, dancing as I drink.
I don’t hope, I know.
Like how Prometheus gave fire to the humans,
Despite the wrath of Olympus
He gave me light,
Even though his nature sought otherwise.
Maybe I’m being too romantic.
I’m just sitting in the garden,
Burning Eucalyptus trees
Well branches, but all the same to me.
